Friday Food Trip - Uncle Cheffy

It's been awhile since me and my friends went out on a Friday to try out something new. The past couple of weeks have been hectic at work and we even had to report at the office on a Saturday to meet our deadlines. So, I would say that this Fridate is very, very well deserved.

We went to Uncle Cheffy in Molito, just a short walk away from the office. I've read a lot of great reviews about their Panizza and Ribs, so those were what we ordered along with a few other items on their menu.

East Meets West - Parma ham, salami, kesong puti,
salted eggs, tomatoes, mango  (495.00)

Seafood Lovers - Salmon, shrimp, clams, squid, herbs, onion
and 3 cheese (425.00)
We ordered two types of Panizzas - the Seafood Lovers and East Meets West. It was my first time to try a Panizza and I would say that I loved it! To eat a Panizza, you have to take a slice of panizza, put any or all of the three additional toppings composed of Alfalfa sprouts, tomato salsa and lettuce and roll them all together like a Burrito.

Panizza toppings - Alfalfa Sprouts, Tomato Salsa and Lettuce

Next up is the Memphis Barbeque U.S. Beef Rib Finger. The Memphis Barbeque U.S. Beef Rib Finger came with marble potatoes and some side salad. The ribs are very soft and tender and the sauce tangy. We liked it though we find the meat a bit on the dry side.

Memphis Barbeque U.S. Beef Rib Finger (695.00)
We also ordered the following:

Grilled Prawns and Pomelo Salad (295.00)
Tiuey Noodles (295.00)
Pasta Carbonara (390.00)
The salad is great though I didn't eat much since I am already having salad every night for dinner, the Tiuey Noodles is a must try while the Carbonara is, well, Carbonara.

All in all, it was a great experience. Well, actually, all meals in whatever restaurant (kahit turo-turo pa yan!) if shared with these guys will always be special and fun and crazy.

Oh yes, we are a crazy bunch!

Total Costs:
Php 295.00 - Grilled Prawns and Pomelo Salad
       695.00 - Memphis BBQ
       295.00 - Tiuey Noodles
       390.00 - Pasta Carbonar
       425.00 - Seafood Lovers Panizza
495.00 - East Meets West Panizza

Friday Food Trip: Quiznos

My officemate, TJ, has been going on and on about this restaurant since the day we went to Army Navy. He's been wanting to try out the toasted subs in Quiznos and when I checked out some reviews, I realized we really should give this a try.

So, off we went to Quiznos at the Alabang Town Center as soon as work was finished.

Their ATC branch is quite small and upon counting the number of stools, it appeared that they can only accommodate twelve people. It's a good thing that there were no other diners when we arrived so we got the place all to ourselves. Besides, the staff are very friendly and service is really fast.

Even if I already read positive reviews about their subs, we still asked their ATC staff which their bestsellers are and when we were told that they are Classic Traditional and the Double Cheese Cheesesteak, these were what we all ordered. Upon ordering, you are to choose the size of your sub - you can choose from Small (5 inches), Regular (8 inches) or Large (11inches). We were all scared to try the bigger sizes so we settled for the 5-inch ones instead.

You will also be asked what kind of bread you want. We were given these choices - Italian White, Rosemary Parmesan, or Artisan Wheat. Three of us ordered the Traditional, TJ ordered the Classic Club and our friend, Vanessa, ordered the Double Cheese Cheesesteak.

Classic Traditional - Roast Beef, Chicken Breast, Ham, Cheddar,
Black Olives, Lettuce, Tomatoes and Ranch - P 125

Classic Club - All natural Chicken Ham, Smokey Bacon, Cheddar, Tomatoes,
Lettuce and Mayonnaise - P 125

Double Cheese Cheesesteak - Steak, Double All natural Swiss, Sauteed Onions
and Mayonnaise - P 195

Believe me when I say that even the 5-inch subs are ginormous! We all had a difficult time finishing our subs, well except for TJ given that he really is still a guy. He ate super fast and was done in no time. I found it hard to take a bite because even if I pressed the sub to flatten it, it still won't fit my mouth. But I have to say that the Traditional is very good. The veggies are fresh, the bread perfectly toasted, the meat tender and all together, it's a gastronomic feast!

Quiznos Batch 83 Four Pepper Chili Sauce and Medium Rootbeer (P 45)

Don't forget to ask the staff for the Batch 83 Four Chili Pepper Sauce. This sauce is neither to chili nor too sweet and I love it.

My Traditional Sub with a few drops of Batch 83 Four Pepper Chili Sauce

I first put a few drops in my sub to test if I can take the "hotness" of the sauce but when I found out it's not even hot at all, I used the sauce ala siopao sauce style and put some on the sub before every bite. It is good, I tell ya.

My tummy is so full after I finished my sub, which was surprising because I usually cannot finish a sandwich this big. Heck, I wasn't even able to finish my Army Navy burger the last time we went there and that is relatively smaller compared to Quiznos' subs.

Our Friday Food Trip ended up really well - with our tummies full, cravings satisfied and hearts filled with laughter over jokes and random chismis shared over every bite.

Is Quiznos deserving of a second visit? Yes, because I definitely would like to try the Double Cheese Cheesesteak next time!
Total Costs:
Php 500.00 - 4 Traditional subs
Php 125.00 - 1 Classic Club
Php 195.00 - 1 Double Cheese CheeseSteak
Php 225.00 - 5 medium sized softdrinks
Php   25.00 - 1 bottled water
------------
Php 1070.00

Get ready to start toasting!

Friday Food Trip - J. Co Donuts and Coffee

We were supposed to go last Friday but the line was soooo long, I didn't bother waiting. When I arrived at J. Co Donuts today at the Alabang Town Center, there was still a line but it's a bit more tolerable than the last time so I took a spot and waited.

After more than 30 minutes, I finally reached the front but all that was left was this:

Empty donut trays

We were asked to wait in line for another 30 minutes while they were baking new sets of donuts. I would have left by this time but since I was already up front, I decided to stay and wait. Good thing though that J. Co is thoughtful enough to give out free frozen yogurts to the first 10 customers in line.

Free Yogurt!

After less than thirty minutes, donuts began filling up the empty trays and they all look yummy!

Dainty colored donuts! I like!

After I made my purchase, I immediately left and proceeded to the terminal to go home. I can't wait to get my hands err mouth on those donuts and I was hoping I could share them with Johan when I arrive. But Johan was already sleeping so I left some for him and for the hubby as well.

Box of six donuts - Php 230.00
Blueberry More
Meisisipi
Crunchy Crunchy
Heaven Berry

Tiramisu
Alcapone

My favorite, so far, is Alcapone. I love the crunchy almonds on top! Tiramisu is the second though the filling is too thick for my taste.

J. Co, like the other brand of donuts, is a tad bit expensive if you buy only a few pieces. My advice is buy two dozen because it'll be way more cheaper. Here are the prices:

One piece costs Php 42.00
1/2 dozen = Php 230.00
1 dozen = Php 350.00
2 dozen = Php 550.00

See the huge difference? If you buy two dozen, the price of each donut would only be Php 22.91. That's almost half the price compared to if you buy a piece! If I had done my math quickly, I would have talked to the person behind me and asked if we could split the bill for two dozen, that way we would have gotten more donuts for a lesser value. Oh well, there's always a next time. :)

Sharing the J.Co way!

Friday Food Trip - BreadTalk

Today is a holiday, hooray! We just arrived home from the cemetery after spending almost an entire day visiting our Angkong and Mamang. I'm sure most of you are enjoying the long weekend which started yesterday. I am having the time of my life getting to spend two whole days with son and I still have two more days to go. Woohoo!

Anyway, since it's a holiday, me and my friends weren't able to go to a new restaurant (we'll go someplace new next weekend, though!), but I made sure I passed by BreadTalk last Wednesday before heading home to try out some of their products.

Spring in the City - Php 40.00

My friend TJ has been raving about Breadtalk's Spring in the City for as long as I can remember. I haven't tried it until now because whenever I pass by BreadTalk to buy some, they're out of stock. I guess that's how in demand they really are.

TJ has been right all along. Spring in the City is deliciously good! I can tell that the bread is really fresh, the filling is yummy, I'm actually salivating now as I write. You should give Spring in the City a try and I swear, you would be coming back for more. If there's a branch near me, I probably wouldn't be able to finish this post and have ran to get more of this. Try Spring in the City, you won't regret it.

Applewerm - Php 40.00

As I was looking for other products to try, I saw Applewerm. It's like an Apple Pie with a tiny hint of Cinnamon. This one is just as good as Spring in the City. There are huge chunks of apples inside and the sweet syrup is perfect. I could eat a dozen of this and never tire of it.  Just look at how good that filling looks in photo and I can attest that it tastes even better!

BreadTalk usually has a long line of people waiting to get their hands on some of their breads. I didn't understand why until now and I sure will be among those in line in the coming days. I am yet to try their assortment of Flosses, been hearing so much about those.

                       Total Costs:
Php 40.00 - Spring in the City
                       Php 40.00 - Applewerm
                       ------------
                       Php 80.00

Friday Food Trip - Pancake House

Today was a holiday and we, at the office, all thought we were not part of the lucky people who get to celebrate a long weekend with their families. Well, not until we arrived at the office and the management suddenly decided to cancel work for the day. So, we get to celebrate the long weekend after all!

Since it's only eight in the morning and there's no van yet at the terminal for my ride home, my officemates and I decided to go ahead with our Friday Food Trip since the Pancake House at Molito is already open and serving breakfast.

Mashed Potato - Php 71.00

My friend Ghia had breakfast at home so she wanted to eat something light. She ordered the Mashed Potato which looks really yummy with plenty of gravy on top.

Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich - Php 191.00

TJ said he couldn't eat anything heavy since he'll be going to the gym right after we ate so he ordered the BLT. I, honestly, don't find it enticing at all. It looks all full of lettuce and I can only see a small portion of Bacon inside. I might be wrong, anyway, this sandwich does look "healthy" which TJ loves.

Spanish Omelette - Php 147

If we went to Pancake House after office hours, I would have ordered the Roast Beef Special but since it's very early in the morning and having Roast Beef for breakfast just doesn't sound right (and my tummy probably won't take it either), I ordered the Spanish Omelette instead. The eggs were cooked to perfection - very, very creamy and the tomatoes and peppers seem fresh. The toasts are just okay but tasted better after I slathered butter on them.

Now, I wonder why we didn't order what Pancake House is known for, pancakes. Well, there's always a next time and when it happens, I'll definitely order the Blueberry Pancakes!
Total Costs:
Php 191.00 - BLT Sandwich
Php 147.00 - Spanish Omelette
Php 165.00 - 3 House Iced Tea
Php   71.00 - Mashed Potato
Php   45.00 - Service Charge
------------
Php 619.00

More than just Pancakes!

Friday Food Trip - Banapple

I love Fridays! Especially today because aside from the free lunch that we had, which is a monthly thing, we got off work at 3pm! Our scheduled webinar was postponed until Monday and since our work volume is not that high, management has decided to send us home earlier.

So, me and troops went to our favorite place, Alabang Town Center. Favorite because, hello, it's just a short distance from the office and very accessible to everyone. As planned, we went straight to Banapple to try out their pasta. By the way, here's a bit of trivia, at first I thought the name Banapple came from the combination of Banana and Apple, it turns out that it came from their best sellers - Banoffee Pie and Apple Caramel Crumble. I should have given those two a try.

Anyway, Banapple at the ATC is quite tiny. It's no surprise that we were put on the waiting list because no table was available when we arrived. Good thing though, we didn't have to wait long, we were seated just after 10 minutes.

They have an assortment of cakes and pies to choose from. I would have tried one but I didn't feel I could finish a slice on top of the pasta dish that I will be having so the pies would have to wait until next time.

Penne Bolognese

I ordered Penne Bolognese - an aromatic meat sauce, blended with Italian herbs and spices, drizzled with luscious olive oil. This dish is delicious! Even the toasted pandesal on the side tasted so good, my friend even ordered two more pandesals because they are really tasty. However, if you are not a big eater like me, you might have left overs to take home because the servings of pasta can serve up to two persons.

Penne Verde

My friend Grace ordered the Pasta Verde - a rich blend of chopped basil, olive oil, and pecans, served with al dente penne pasta. It is as good as the Penne Bolognese and the serving can also serve up to two persons. Grace had her leftovers wrapped and brought it home for her husband.

Lasagna Roll-Ups

TJ, my beki friend, ordered the Lasagna Roll-ups - herbed cream and Parmesan cheeses fill al dente lasagna wide strips, are rolled up, and smothered with their classic tomato meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. The photo above didn't do it justice but it does look good in actual and tasted even better! TJ finished the dish in just 10 minutes!

Crunchy Chicken Fillet and Bell Pepper Sandwich

Fem ordered Crunchy Chicken Fillet and Bell Pepper Sandwich - crisp and juicy chicken breast fillet, paired with pan-fried bell peppers and sliced onions, layered on crisp lettuce and melted cheese, drizzled with garlic herb mayo. The sandwich really looks yummy and very filling, though, I have no idea how it tasted because Fem ordered it after everyone was finished with their pasta and she was left at Banapple to wait for her husband so they can share the sandwich.

Banapple proved to be a great place with really, really good food. The service is quick, you don't have to ask for water to be served because we were served a glass each as soon as we sat down, the crew was courteous and did I say that the food is really, really good?

You should give Banapple a try, it's definitely worth a visit, believe me.
Total Costs:
Php 170.00 - Penne Bolognese
Php 170.00 - Pasta Verde
Php 180.00 - Lasagna Roll-Ups
Php 140.00 - Crunchy Chicken Fillet and Bell Pepper Sandwich
------------
Php 660.00

All made with Love!
