Reading Made Easy

I told myself over and over that I will never succumb to the temptation of purchasing a reading device just because I don't want to lose my love of the smell of a newly opened book.Yes, I am that weird.

But, because I have so many paperbacks and hardbounds scattered at every house I lived in and it's taking so much time to clean, store and give away books, I grabbed the opportunity to own a Kindle when my sister decided to "give" me hers. For the price I paid for it, it was almost practically free!

It is a Kindle Touch Wi-Fi. I love it because I can not only read on it, but I can browse the web and go on Facebook as well through Wi-Fi connection. The only glitch is that this device does not have back light so that makes reading in the dark utterly impossible. I am yet to buy a case for it and a clip light so I can still read in the dark when my husband and son are already sleeping.

There are tons of free ebooks over at the Amazon Kindle Store and one can also purchase a book if it's not available for free.

I didn't have the chance to read on it as much as I wanted to this week because of the overtime we had to render at work, but I promised myself I'd catch up on my reading on Sunday when we finally get a day off work.

Great Booksale Finds

I’ve been a customer of Booksale for years. If only you have the patience to scour through their shelves and shelves of books, surely you’d be able to find one in a good condition. I can spend hours in this store and whenever I pass by one branch, it is close to impossible that I won’t buy one book.

Now that I have Johan, most of the times I’d be looking at children’s books instead of the usual mystery and self help books for me. I already bought a lot of books for Johan but I cannot not leave Booksale today without buying these:

GEDC2468

I was lucky to find these two Dwell Studio hard bound, touch & feel books that were sold for only 85 pesos each. I think this retails at close to 400 for a new one. Such a steal!

Johan, of course, was excited to check out his new books. As soon as I showed these to him, he immediately browsed through the pages as if he could already read!

Cutie Johan with his two bottom teeth! He’s definitely happy with Mommy’s great finds!

Dispatched

bookdep

It was the first time that I ordered books online. I chanced upon this website through my Yahoo Group N@W or Newlyweds at Work. After reading through some feedbacks, I was convinced that the site was legit so I searched for the books I’ve been wanting to read but too frugal to buy locally because each of the books would cost me a thousand pesos, more or less.

When I went to the website, I found out that both of the books I was looking for were available so I went on ahead and ordered both, paid via Paypal. Both books cost me less than a thousand pesos and what’s even great is I did not pay any shipping fee, to think that the books will be coming from the UK. Great deal, right?

So, what’s left for me to do now is to wait. According to the site, the books will be delivered in two weeks. I can’t wait!

If you’re interested to order some books, head on to The Book Depository. Enter code May11 at checkout to cut off 10% from your total bill. Discount code is only available until today, May 31.

Disclaimer: I cannot vouch yet for this site because I am yet to receive the books that I ordered. So, for now, order at your own risk. I will post feedback once I get hold of my books.

Raining and Reading

I love rain. I love reading.

When combined, it's a perfect time for me. I love to stay in bed, curled up with a pillow and spend the entire day reading. Unfortunately, I ran out of paperbacks and hardbound books to read. Good thing is I chanced about something online that can be downloaded to the PSP so I can read pdf files. I had to delete the Tekken 6 game from the PSP memory card to make way for this software. (Hopefully hubby doesn't find out as he's currently hooked to the World of Warcrafts game).

I've read Sophie Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret (for the nth time) using the PSP followed by Jodie Picoult's My Sister's Keeper and I am currently reading Charlaine Harris' A Touch of Dead.

Here's my company for tonight: Heidi Murkoff's What to Expect.., hubby's PSP with my ebook collection, a tumbler of hot Anmum Materna Chocolate and the heavy downpour of rain outside.

Perfect.
