Pamana Restaurant, Tagaytay City

Pamana is owned by the Ongpauco family, same family who owns Barrio Fiesta. I've been hearing so much about the place that I told hubby we should try it. We went there last May 8 to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary.

The Place

Aside from the food, another thing that made me want to go here is the place itself. It's like walking into the ancestral home of the Ongpauco family. The muebles look old, or are made to look old and I love the collection of photos on the wall.

The Binagoongang Bagnet is simply delicious! The Bagnet is cooked to perfection, the Bagoong complements the Bagnet and together they make one gastronomically perfect dish. If you'd be coming here and will just order one dish, I suggest you go for the Bagnet. Hubby can't stop himself from praising the dish over and over. It's really good!

The Three way Adobo is just okay, I loved the Adobong Puti more than the other two - Adobo Flakes and Pork Adobo. Hubby loved the Flakes.

What we both didn't like is their inhouse concoction of Pandan-Luya Iced tea. Maybe because we're not salabat drinkers. My tummy rumbled and hubby's close to puking. Yep, we really didn't like it. But, who knows, if you like salabat then you should probably give this a try.

The food at Pamana is already great, what they could improve on is the quality of service given by their staff. When we entered the foyer, the staff at the front desk greeted us warmly and told us to go right up to the second floor dining area. When we got there, more than three service staffs were huddled together not minding us. I even had to say "Excuse me", before one of them finally approached us and ushered us to our table. When the staff brought down our drinks and placed them on our table, I was okay with it, when we were handed our menu and the staff didn't walk us through their dishes, I was okay with it, until another group of diners came and they were treated way better than we were treated. Their glasses were immediately filled with water by the staff and the menu was explained in detail. We didn't even hear one "Thank you" when we got up from our table to leave. Wow.

We would have wanted to come back to Pamana for their Bagnet but definitely not for their service. Just my two cents.
